NAKILAT AND Q-SHIP TAKE DELIVERY OF THIRD LPG VESSEL

On December 26th, 2008 Qatar Gas Transport Company Ltd. (Nakilat) and Qatar Shipping Company Q.S.C. (Q-Ship) took delivery of “Al Wukir” the third in a series of four Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) carriers. The delivery ceremony took place at the Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea.

The four vessels are owned through a 50:50 joint venture between Nakilat and Q-Ship named “Gulf LPG Transport Company W.L.L” specifically formed to own and operate Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) carriers. The first two LPG carriers “Bu Sidra” and “Umm Laqhab” have already been delivered and the fourth vessel will be delivered in the first quarter of 2009. Under the terms of a vessel management agreement, Nakilat, through the wholly-owned subsidiary, Nakilat Shipping (Qatar) Limited, will operate the 82,000m3 capacity carriers. .

With the growth in production of LNG, the volume and trade in LPG from Qatar will also increase. With the formation of this company, Nakilat and have Q-Ship have positioned themselves to meet the expected LPG trade demand growth.
